CHICAGO — Chicago State University has announced the 2021-22 women's basketball schedule, which will serve as head coach Tiffany Sardin's second season at the helm.
In the non-conference portion, the Cougars will play home games against Alabama-Birmingham (Nov. 13), Indiana State (Dec. 1), St. Thomas (Dec. 4) and Evansville (Dec. 19).
Chicago State will also travel to the Sunshine State for a Thanksgiving Tournament hosted by Florida International in Miami.
Bolstering an opener on Nov. 9 at Wichita State, the Cougars also will play road games at Western Illinois (Nov. 17), Loyola-Chicago (Nov. 20), Wisconsin (Nov. 22) and Green Bay (Dec. 16).
"I'm excited that our women get to compete against these teams," Sardin said. "We have put together a competitive non-conference schedule as we head into a very competitive conference, with some additions that have elevated it. This schedule is a great test for us.
"If we want to be the best, we have to compete against the best, so I felt it would be best to put our women in these environments that they haven't experienced. Our women will grow up quickly."

The 2021-22 Western Athletic Conference Schedule also features nine home games, while the Cougars will make trips to eight WAC foes. The Cougars open conference play with a New Year's week two-step against Grand Canyon and New Mexico State, both familiar faces, and will face the Aggies on New Year's Day. The full slate also includes home and road matchups with conference newcomers Lamar, Sam Houston State, Abilene Christian and Stephen F. Austin.
"The WAC schedule has gotten a lot tougher with the additions of some new teams," Sardin said. "This will be a great challenge for our women."
Last season, the Cougars played WAC games against UTRGV, Grand Canyon, New Mexico State, Utah Valley, Tarleton State, Seattle U and California Baptist before facing Utah Valley once again in the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas. This season, the Cougars will re-match with Utah Valley on Thursday, January 27 in Orem, Utah.
The 2022 WAC Basketball Tournament will take place from March 9-12 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, same site as last season.
A complete promotional schedule will be released at a later date. Season tickets are available here.
