Box Score Chicago, IL — The Chicago State men's tennis team swept Prairie State College 7-0 Tuesday afternoon at XS Tennis in Chicago. The Cougars have won two of the last three matches and have two non-conference tilts remaining before the Western Athletic Conference tournament at the beginning of May.
Jakov Suler and
Jesus Perez Plaza won 6-2 at No. 1 to start the doubles sweep, followed by
Javier Sanchez Pradillo and
Jakub Zamorski earning a 6-2 win at No. 2 to seal the team point.
Pedro Alvarez and
Pedja Kolaric finished off the sweep with a 6-4 at No. 3.
In singles,
Pedja Kolaric was the first off the court at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Jakov Suler followed with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 to put the Cougars up 3-0.
Javier Sanchez Pradillo then won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 to clinch the team victory for CSU. Freshman
Pedro Alvarez then earned his 12
th consecutive victory at No. 4, 6-1, 6-2 and
Jesus Perez Plaza won 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (2) at No. 2 and
Max Sandoval won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6 to complete the sweep.
The next action for the Cougars will be non-conference matchups against Illinois State (April 24) and St. Louis (April 25) to close out the regular season. The WAC Tournament is scheduled for May 1-2 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where the Cougars are the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 1 Grand Canyon May 1 at 2 p.m.
