Pedro Alvarez continues to play well, earning his 11th consecutive victory at No. 4 singles.
The Cougars swept the doubles matches to earn the team point.
Javier Sanchez Pradillo and
Pedro Alvarez picked up the first win, 6-3, at No. 3, followed by
Jakub Zamorski and
Max Sandoval earning a 7-5 win to clinch the point before
Jakov Suler and
Jesus Perez Plaza won 7-5 at No. 1
In singles,
Javier Sanchez lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 to knot the team score 1-1.
Max Sandoval then dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 6 and Cardinal Stritch took a 2-1 team lead. Freshman
Pedro Alvarez then picked up Chicago State's first singles win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory to knot the team score 2-2. Cardinal Stritch then won the next two matches, with
Jesus Perez Plaza losing 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 and
Jakov Suler lost 7-5, 7-6 (3) to clinch the win for the Wolves.
Jakub Zamorski closed out the match with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win for the Cougars.
The next action for the Cougars will be non-conference matchups against Prairie State College (April 20), Illinois State (April 24) and St. Louis (April 25) to close out the regular season. The WAC Tournament is scheduled for May 1-2 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where the Cougars are the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 1 Grand Canyon May 1 at 2 p.m.
