CHICAGO — Highly-decorated point guard Aaliyah Collins has signed with the Chicago State women's basketball program, the team announced Friday.
A 5-foot-7 guard from Snohomish, Washington, Collins comes from Glacier Peak High School, where she earned a reputation as perhaps the best on-ball defender in the state.
"Aaliyah is a fierce competitor who plays with a lot of energy and passion," Chicago State head coach Tiffany Sardin said. "Her ability to play both sides of the ball will provide immediate help in the guard position. She loves to attack in transition and not afraid of contact.
"We are adding someone with high character and passion about basketball, who will model everything we want on our team. We are excited to welcome Aaliyah to the Cougar family. She will be an exciting player to watch out for next season."
As a junior, Collins earned Washington First-Team All-State honors and averaged four steals per game, adding 12 points, four rebounds and five assists per contest.

Collins also garnered WIAA All-Tournament Team honors for the 2019-20 season, as she lifted Glacier Peak to the state tournament semifinals and a third-place finish. Glacier Peak amassed an unbeaten conference record during Collins' junior campaign.
Adding to her accolades, the gritty point guard earned recognition on The Herald's All-Area Girls Basketball First Team for the 2019-20 season.
"I cannot wait to join the Cougar family and create new bonds with my teammates and the coaches, as well as excel my skill set on the basketball court," Collins said. "I am extremely thankful to be able to have this opportunity with this amazing team and school."
