SEATTLE — In its first of two matches in the Pacific Northwest, the Chicago State women's soccer team (0-10, 0-8 WAC) fell to Seattle (7-3-1, 6-1-1 WAC), 8-0.
16 minutes in, the Redhawks' Lehai Monthei set up Sydney Carr for a goal-scoring opportunity, and Carr struck in a shot to the back of the net to lift Seattle ahead, 1-0. Seven minutes later, the two paired up again, and Carr's second score made the line 2-0 Redhawks.
In the 25th minute, Bailey Hall joined the action, knocking in Seattle's third score of the night.
Two more Seattle goals — including a 26th-minute strike from Carr for her third — then put the Redhawks firmly in the driver's seat, 5-0, at halftime.
Carr drove in her fourth goal of the night in the 62nd minute, and Seattle tacked on two more scores in the next stretch, to secure an 8-0 lead.
During the 73rd minute, Chicago State's Barbara Castellanos, a West Chicago native, led an offensive-zone attack and logged a shot that Seattle goalkeeper Madison Waguespack saved.
Chicago State goalkeeper Stella Chiara Chiaradia logged 13 saves on the evening.
