Women's Basketball: Jacia Cunningham Joins Cougars

Milwaukee guard is Tiffany Sardin's first 2022-23 signing

CHICAGOHead coach Tiffany Sardin announced today the signing of Jacia Cunningham, a guard from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

"We are very excited to welcome Jacia and her family to our Cougar family," head coach Tiffany Sardin said. "This is another player who adds to the culture we're promoting here. She's the epitome of it. Off the court, she brings so much character.

"On the court, Jacia is a three-level scorer. She can shoot the three, get to the basket and has a smooth midrange game. She's a big guard who can play and defend on the perimeter. She isn't afraid of contact and can make plays on her own. She elevates us at the guard position. I'm truly excited to add Jacia to our team and bring in talent from surrounding area."

A 5-8 guard, Cunningham attended the Milwaukee School of Languages, where she earned All-Conference honors and averaged 11.7 points and 5.7 assists per game in her first high school season.

Cunningham is the first signing for Chicago State's 2022-23 class under Sardin.

"I am super excited about my decision to commit to Chicago State University," Cunningham said. "It was an easy decision because I had established a good relationship with my future coaches during the recruiting process. They actually asked me about school and my daily activities which showed me they cared beyond basketball. I feel as though the staff are strong black women that will help me grow as a person and a player."

The Cougars just kicked off their 2021-22 season, Sardin's second. Fans can purchase single-game, courtside and season tickets at this link.
