The Chicago State women's basketball team (0-2) will face the first of two upcoming Land of Lincoln road games, traveling to Macomb to face Western Illinois before a Saturday battle at Loyola-Chicago.
ALL-TIME Chicago State and Western Illinois are meeting for the 40th time, with WIU leading the series, 37-2. The two teams last faced off on December 7, 2019 in Chicago, with the Leathernecks winning, 88-78. CSU's last win was on January 29, 2013 in Chicago, a 56-54 victory.
LAST TIME OUT Chicago State dropped its home opener to UAB on Saturday, 81-50. Freshman point guard Aaliyah Collins led the Cougars with 12 points, while transfer forward Nafa Haidara added 10 points and four rebounds.
SIZING UP THE LEATHERNECKS Western Illinois enters the matchup 1-1 after squashing Butler, 73-46, in a road tilt on Saturday. JD Gravina leads the charge in his 11th season, while senior guard Danni Nichols powers the Leathernecks offensively, having scored 22 and 16 points in WIU's two games. Last season, Western Illinois went 8-16. Â
SQUAD UP Only three players from last season's roster return for Sardin's bunch: Christina Britter, Ana Haklicka and Laura Segues. Sardin has added two assistant coaches, Tiffany Conner and Diana Martinez, two freshman, Taylor Norris and Aaliyah Collins, and six transfers: Quentarra Mitchell, Nafa Haidara, Kyjai Miles, Janiah Newell, Jazmine Covington and Allysah "Cookie" Boothe.

Chicago State University Athletics is comprised of 15 intercollegiate teams involving over 150 student-athletes that compete in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and volleyball.
