Cougars Fall to Stephen F. Austin at SeatGeek Stadium

Next is Sam Houston for Senior Day

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. — The Chicago State women's soccer team (1-12-1, 1-6-0 WAC) suffered a 4-0 loss against the Stephen F. Austin State University Lumberjacks on Friday.

"We know SFA is a tough team to beat, and we tried our best," head coach Cristiano Costa said. "After the adjustments we made for the second half. I think we had a lot of good moments and could have scored one or two goals. Now, we are already thinking about Sam Houston and will be ready to play Sunday for our senior day."

Early in the first half, the Lumberjacks were on the attack and generated early chances. However, due to two stellar saves by freshmen goalkeeper Alexa Seiler, the game remained scoreless in the early minutes.

Then, in the 28th minute of the match, the Lumberjacks finally broke through the Cougars' back line and scored what would be their first goal of four total in the match, courtesy of Carly Wyatt who was assisted by Mariona Garcia.

12 minutes later, Briana Beaty struck home a goal for Stephen F. Austin on a Jamie Jezierski through ball to make it 2-0 at halftime.

In the 52nd minute, freshman Jayme Bailey added another score for the Lumberjacks before fellow newcomer Lucy Meadows did the same on a point-blank score in the 68th minute.

The Cougars will next face Sam Houston on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. for senior day at SeatGeek Stadium.
