Chicago State Women's Soccer Drops 6-1 Decision to Abilene Christian

The Chicago State women's soccer team dropped a 6-1 decision at Abilene Christian University this afternoon at Elmer Gray Stadium in Abilene, Texas.

The first ten minutes of the match remained scoreless as neither team posed a threat due to sturdy defending by each team. It wasn't until the eleventh minute mark that the Wildcats finally broke through Chicago State's back line with a beautiful right-footed strike by Natalie Wodka.

The game continued on with the Cougars looking for their first goal of the match in order to claw their way back in. An opportunity for Chicago State presented itself in the form of a penalty kick, which captain Sara Quevedo stepped up to take. Quevedo converted the penalty and the Cougars tied the game at 1-1.

However, a minute later, the Wildcats were awarded a penalty kick off its own, and Christina Arteaga placed into the bottom left of the net and ACU gained a 2-1 advantage. The Wildcats converted its third goal of the match at the 32nd minute mark and led 3-1 at halftime.

In the second and last half of the match, the Wildcats once again wasted little time and, at the 58th minute mark, fired in their fourth goal of the match which was finished by Emily Heidman. Abilene Christian continued its onslaught, adding two more goals, with one at the 80th by Caylen Wright and the other at the 87th by Laura Mauldin for the final score of 6-1.

Chicago State's next match is October 8 at Sam Houston State 6:30 p.m.
