HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOR, Ill. – The Chicago State men's tennis team rebounded from a loss on Friday night with a 4-2 win over in-state foe, Eastern Illinois on Sunday.
The Cougars dropped the doubles point so they needed to win four singles to take the match.
Jakov Suler (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska Gimnazija) got things started at No. 1 singles with a straight sets win. Suler battled in the first set and came out on top 7-5 and put the match away with a 6-4 win in the second set.
The match featured a pair of three-setters at No. 2 and No. 3
Jesus Perez Plaza (Madrid, Spain/) dropped the first set 6-4 and rebounded to tie the match with a 6-1 win in the second set but Eastern's Christos Kyrillou, took the third set 6-4.
At No. 3 Javier Sanchez Pradillio also played three sets. Sanchez Pradillio took the first set 7-5 but EIU's Pau Reiera tied the match with a 5-7 victory in the second set before Sanchez Paradillio clinched the match with a 6-3 win.
Jakub Zamorski (Boguchwala, Poland/) clinched the match with a straight set – 6-2, 6-3, win at No. 5 singles.
