HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOR, Ill. – The Chicago State men's tennis team fell to Green Bay in a hard-fought match at Homewood-Flossmor Racquet and Fitness on Friday afternoon. The Cougars earned wins in No. 1 and No. 3 singles from
Jakov Suler (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska Gimnazija) and
Javier Sanchez Pradillo (Toledo, Spain/).
After dropping the doubles point, the Cougars went to work in singles.
Jakov Suler (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska Gimnazija) started things off with a dominating straight set, 6-1, 6-0 performance against
George Botha (Cradock, South Africa/Grey College Secondary School) at No. 1 singles. Singles was highlighted by several matches that went to a third set, including
Javier Sanchez Pradillo's (Toledo, Spain/) win at No. 3.
Pradillio dropped the first set 6-4 to Green Bay's Kentaro Mizushima but used that first set as motivation and tied the match with a 6-4 win and earned the victory with a 6-3 win in the third set.
Jesus Perez Plaza (Madrid, Spain/) and
Cody Wurzelbacher (Toledo, Ohio/Springfield) also played three sets. Perez Plaza won his first set 6-4 at No. 2 singles but fell short in the second and third, falling 6-4 and 6-3. Wurzelbacher also won his first set, 6-4 but dropped the second and thirds sets, 6-3 and 6-0.
