CHICAGO – The Chicago men's basketball team honored senior center Noah BIgirumwami prior to its final home contest of the 2019-20 season against California Baptist on Saturday afternoon but dropped the contest 95-53.
Solomon Hunt (Pomona, Calif./Upland H.S.) led the Cougars from the floor with a team-high 11 points while
Andrew Lewis (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee Vincent H.S.) added eight.
The Cougars couldn't get anything going from the floor throughout the contest, shooting just 29.6 percent from the floor but the Lancers on the other hand seemingly couldn't miss a shot, shooting a blistering 59.3 percent from the floor including 62.1 percent with 18 made three-pointers on the contest.
The home team opened the contest with a triple from
Andrew Lewis (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee Vincent H.S.) to take the early 3-0 lead but the Lancers tied the game with a triple from Ferron Favors, Jr, - who had 17 points on the afternoon – one of four players in double figures.
With the Lancers leading 23-14 at the 8:40 mark of the first half, the visitors used a 23-5 run highlighted by four triples to take a 46-19 lead at the break.
The Cougars couldn't get any offense going in the second half and struggled to stop the Lancers. The score ballooned to 30 points or more in the second half but there were a few highlight worthy moments in the second stanza. Khalil Whitehead slammed down back-to-back dunks and
Xavier Johnson (Dallas, Texas/Hopkins H.S.) scored all nine of his points in the second frame.
