Champaign, Ill. - The Chicago State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 contest to Northern Kentucky in a neutral site matchup at Illinois on Saturday. The Cougars earned a win at No. 2 singles from
Jesus Perez Plaza (Madrid, Spain/).
In singles, the Cougars battled but couldn't get any lucky bounces. Plaza was a very bright spot for the team. The sophomore took a 6-4 win in the first set but Northern Kentucky battled back to tie the match but Plaza gutted it out and took the match with a 6-4 win.
At No. 1 singles,
Jakov Suler (Zagreb, Croatia/Sportska Gimnazija) had a tough battle with Nathan Schwartz. After dropping the first set, 6-3, Suler made it a match but fell 7-6(7-5). The remaining singles were won in straight sets by the Norse.
The Tigers dropped the doubles point, after Northern Kentucky took wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles team of
Jakub Zamorski (Boguchwala, Poland/) and Javier Sanchez Pradillio fell 6-1 at No. 3 and Cody Wuzelbacher fell 6-3.
