CHICAGO –The Chicago State men's basketball team dropped a 69-51 contest to Kansas City on Saturday at the Jones Convocation Center.
Solomon Hunt (Pomona, Calif./Upland H.S.) led the Cougars from the field with 14 points while
Andrew Lewis (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee Vincent H.S.) added 13 points.
Ke'Sean Davis (Compton, Calif./Taft Charter H.S.) nearly added a double-double with nine point and eight rebounds.
Trailing 41-24 to start the second half, the Cougars tied to get themselves going on the defensive end of the floor and were able to get a stop on Kansas City's first possession and picked up some momentum with a bucket from
Solomon Hunt (Pomona, Calif./Upland H.S.) and two free throws cutting the lead to 43-28 in the opening minutes of the second frame.
Chicago State continued to work hard on the defensive end were able to limit the Kangaroos in the second half. Kansas City shot just 36.0 percent in the second half but the Kangaroos were able to capitalize at the charity stripe shooting, 10-of-11.
The Cougars had a slow start to the contest letting the Kangaroos jump out to a 15-0 lead before beginning to chip away at the score by way of defense and getting to the free throw line. After trailing by as many as 21 points in the first half, the Cougars got as close as 14 points and closed the half strong.
