CHICAGO – A trio of Chicago State men's basketball student-athletes finished in double-figures, led by
Xavier Johnson's (Dallas, Texas/Hopkins H.S.) 19, as the Cougars suffered a 97-59 home loss to OVC opponent, Oral Roberts, Tuesday, Dec. 17 inside the Jones Convocation Center.
The Cougars led early, scoring first off of a
Jace Colley (Preston, Nova Scotia, Canada/Toronto Basketball Academy) layup and again regaining the lead at 4-2 before it was all Golden Eagles for the final 17 minutes of the half, taking a 53-25 advantage into the locker room.
ORU's lead swelled to as many as 42 in second-half action, sealing a 38-point, 97-59 victory.
CSU
- In addition to Johnson's 19, Isaiah Lewis (Romulus, Mich.) and Colley each added 13 points each.
- Colley earned a double-double for CSU pulling down 11 boards with his 13 points.
- Lewis also dished a team-best five dimes for the Cougars, and earned one steal.
ORU
- Emmanuel Nzkwesi lead the Golden Eagles with a game-best 25 points, and team-high nine rebounds.
- Four additional Golden Eagles finished in double-figures, while Ty Lazenby was a perfect 5-for-5 from deep, with 17 points.
- ORU finished with 49 points, and 22 points off rebounds.
