CHICAGO – Chicago State men's basketball suffered a 13-point setback, 98-85, to the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds Nov. 9, inside the Jones Convocation Center.
For the second-straight game
Xavier Johnson (Dallas, Texas/Hopkins H.S.) led CSU offensively with 19 points. The junior guard also added six assists and five boards.
The first six minutes of the contest consisted of exchanging buckets for the Cougars and the Greyhounds before Loyola went on a 11-0 run late in the half, giving them their largest lead of the half (19) with 4:19 left until the break.
The Greyhounds took a 53-37 lead into the locker room.
Momentum stayed in the favor of the visiting squad as they saw their lead swell to 21 in the first five minutes of the second half.
After trailing by as many as 24, the Cougars were able to cut the lead to 11 with less than a minute to play, before Loyola finished with the 13-point, 98-85 victory.

- Andrew Kostecka collected a game-best 26 points
- Jaylin Andrews (14) and Cam Spender (12) also finished in double-figures
- Golden Dike pulled down a team-best eight rebounds
- The Greyhounds bench scored 34 total points
