CHICAGO – The second most points scored in the national on opening-night of the 2019-2020 season came from Chicago State's
Xavier Johnson (Dallas, Texas/Hopkins H.S.), as the junior dropped 37 points during a 103-60 convincing game-one victory inside the Jones Convocation Center, Tuesday, Nov. 5.
It was all Cougars, all night as CSU opened up scoring the first two buckets, and never looked back.
Chicago State took a 20-point, 46-26, lead into the locker room before Johnson opened up the second half connecting on three three-pointers, and momentum stayed in the Cougars favor for the remainder of the half.

Michael Johnson (Chicago, Ill./Harlan) three ball late in the game broke the century mark for CSU, giving the Cougars their largest lead of the game at 43 (101-58).

- X.Johnson (37), Andrew Lewis (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee Vincent H.S.) (15), Kalil Whitehead (Detroit, Mich./Cass Technical) (12), and Solomon Hunt (Pomona, Calif./Upland H.S.) (11) all finished in doubule-figures.
- Solomon led the team with seven rebounds
- The Cougars connected on nine three-pointers, compared to the Eagles two.
- CSU shot 67% from three in the second half

- Bryce Prochaska (18), DeMarcus Williams (14), and Darius Jones (10) finished in double-figures
- Prochaska finished with a double-double, collecting a game-best 11 rebounds
