CHICAGO – The Chicago State women's soccer team dropped a pair of home weekend matches, falling to Utah Valley and New Mexico State at the Kroc Center in Chicago, Ill.
The Cougars dropped a 10-0 decision to UTRGV on Friday, Oct. 18 and suffered a heartbreaker overtime loss to the Aggies, 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 20.
On Saturday, CSU honored seniors Bailey Holifield (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt), Lila Kisvari, Mariela Alba (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett), Samara Costa (Salvador, Brazil), and Sarah Clark (Queensland, Australia/Innisfail State College) during halftime of the match against NMSU.
Cougar rookie Marissa Beale (Frazier Park, CA/Bakerfield Christian) scored the lone CSU goal, from Barbara Castellanos (West Chicago, IL/West Chicago Community High School), at the 45:36 mark, giving the home team the 1-0 advantage until the 85th minute, when the Aggies knotted the score at one.
In extra time, NMSU's Eliudth Gonzalez slide in the go-ahead goal at the 97:54 mark, securing the 2-1 Aggie victory.
Judith Sorrribes went the entire weekend in the net, earning 22 saves, adding to her NCAA second-best season total of 126 saves.
CSU returns to action Thursday, Oct. 24 as the Cougars travel to Phoenix, Ariz., for a 7pm match at Grand Canyon.
