Cougars Fall at Purdue Fort Wayne in Non-Conference Finale

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Chicago State women's soccer fell to host Purdue Fort Wayne in its non-conference finale by a score of 5-0 here today at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
 
A goal from Kayla Wisniewski at the 17th minute of the first half gave the Mastodons an early 1-0 lead to which they held on to going into halftime. The home team then added four goals in the second half at the 49th, 51st, 55th and 74th minutes for the final margin.
 
The Cougars saw three of their players tally four shot attempts in junior Sara Quevedo (Lomo Blanco, Spain), freshman Carol Lage (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Centro Educacional Anisio Teixeira) and freshman Aanika Stevens (Boise, Idaho/Centennial).
 
Fellow freshman Judith Sorribes (Barcelona, Spain/Bisbe Berenguer) recorded five saves in the contest for CSU.
 
Next up for Chicago State is the start of Western Athletic Conference play on Friday, Sept. 28 at Gwendolyn Brooks Field with a home contest against CSU Bakersfield beginning at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the CSU Radio Network.
