Gonzalez Posts Two Wins for CSU Men’s Tennis against NM State in KC

Senior Christian Gonzalez captured his 20th singles win of the season today against New Mexico State
KANSAS CITY – Senior Christian Gonzalez (Mungia, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) paced the Chicago State men's tennis team as he earned two wins against Western Athletic Conference-leading New Mexico State as it fell to the Aggies at the Plaza Tennis Center by a 6-1 score as part of the league's first cluster.

NM State began the match by capturing two out of the three doubles flights to earn a 1-0 advantage.

Gonzalez and junior Felix Savard (Laval, QC Canada/Saint-Gabriel) recorded a close 7-5 win over Chris Goncalves and Luis Pliego Flores in the No. 1 flight.

The Aggies posted wins in five of the six singles matches to seal the win, but Gonzalez tallied the Cougars' only point in the No. 4 flight after defeating Enrique Asmar via scores of 6-4, 1-6 and 10-4 for his 20th singles win of the year.

CSU returns to action on April 11 with a trip downstate to Normal for a non-conference match at Illinois State beginning at 3 p.m.
