Gonzalez, Savard Earn Two Wins as CSU Drops 4-3 Decision at Home to Lewis

CHICAGO – Senior Christian Gonzalez (Mungia, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) and junior Felix Savard (Laval, QC Canada/Saint-Gabriel) earned two wins apiece as the Chicago State men's tennis team concluded a four-match homestand this afternoon at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club with a 4-3 defeat to Lewis.

The Cougars captured the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead after bouncing back from a default loss at the No. 3 flight.

Gonzalez and Savard earned a tightly contested 6-4 win at No. 1 over Alan Braschinsky and Oskar Lusti followed by senior Rohan Wattley (Slough, United Kingdom/Burnham) and freshman George Botha (Craddock, South Africa/Gray College Secondary School) defeating Andre Norasith and Anton Levitin by a 6-2 margin.

In singles play, Gonzalez posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the No. 4 flight against Chandler Stimpert to extend his personal winning streak to eight matches in a row, while Savard earned a three-set win at No. 1 over Braschinsky via scores of 7-5, 3-6 and 6-2.

CSU heads to Florida for a pair of matches in Orlando that starts on Thursday, March 15 against North Carolina Central with a start time of 11:30 a.m.
