Men’s Tennis Hosts Southern Utah and Prairie State in Doubleheader on Friday

CHICAGO – Chicago State men's tennis returns to action on Friday as it hosts a pair of home dual matches at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club which begins at 1 p.m. against Southern Utah before battling Prairie State College at 6 p.m.

The Cougars bring a 2-5 record into Friday's matches following a two-week break when they posted a close 4-3 home victory over Purdue Northwest and dropped a 4-0 decision at Northwestern on Feb. 5. Senior Rohan Wattley (Slough, United Kingdom/Burnham) leads CSU in singles with a 10-5 record followed by fellow senior Christian Gonzalez (Mungia, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola), who is sporting a 9-8 singles mark. Gonzalez has also produced a 10-5 record in doubles play with junior partner Felix Savard (Laval, QC Canada/Saint-Gabriel) that includes a 6-1 ledger in dual matches.

Southern Utah sports a 2-5 record heading into its matchup with CSU after gaining a 4-0 win at Pacific Lutheran and losing 5-2 at Seattle last Saturday. Sophomore Guy Feigin leads the Thunderbirds with a 3-2 record in singles followed by freshman Agustin Tamagnone with a 3-3 ledger. In doubles, the team of freshman Jonathan Morales and sophomore Conor Tordoff has produced a perfect 3-0 record.

Prairie State will play its first dual-match of the season against the Cougars after falling at Lake Forest College in an exhibition match last Saturday by an 8-1 margin. Last season, the Pioneers went on to claim the Illinois Skyway Conference Championship.

CSU heads to Indianapolis on March 2 for a road match at IUPUI.
