Sims, Jr. Tallies 30 Points for Cougars in Road Contest at NM State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Junior Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) tallied a game-high 30 points as visiting Chicago State battled tough against host New Mexico State in a Western Athletic Conference contest Thursday night before falling by a score of 78-67 at the Pan American Center.
 
Sims connected on 10-of-17 from the field and hit nine of 11 attempts from three-point range in 31 minutes of play off the bench while grabbing four rebounds for CSU.
 
Senior Montana Byrd (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) added 13 points, while fellow senior Deionte Simmons (Detroit, Mich./Lewisville (Texas)) contributed nine points and freshman Cameron Bowles (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood) grabbed a season-high eight rebounds.
 
New Mexico State was led by Sidy N'Dir (15 points) and Jemerrio Jones (12 points, 11 rebounds).
 
The Cougars close the road portion of their schedule on Saturday night with a live broadcast on ESPN 3 in the WAC Game of the Week at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as the opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
