Opening Tip – Chicago State women's basketball heads up north to DeKalb, Ill., tomorrow evening for an in-state showdown against Northern Illinois at the NIU Convocation Center live on ESPN 3 with the broadcast starting at 6 p.m.
 
Scouting CSU – The Green and White play the third game of a four-game road swing tomorrow following Monday's 97-35 loss to Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. CSU is paced by sophomore guard Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) as she is averaging 16.1 points and 3.0 assists per game this season. Junior forward Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain/) is producing averages of 11.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots per game to rank first in the Western Athletic Conference in both categories as well as scoring 7.2 point a game. Freshman guard Kourtney Crane (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) leads the Cougars with an .851 free throw percentage to go along with averaging 9.1 points and 1.9 assists per contest.
 
Scouting NIU – Winners of three out of its last four contests since Dec. 2, Northern Illinois heads into tomorrow's game after posting a 78-59 home win Monday over Eastern Illinois. Four players currently average double-digit scoring for the Huskies, led by senior guard Mikayla Voight's 20.2 points and 1.4 steals per game. Senior guard/forward Courtney Woods is tied with redshirt junior forward Ally May for the team's rebounding lead with an average of 6.6 boards a game and ranks second in scoring at 20.1 points per game.
 
Series History – NIU leads the all-time series over Chicago State by a 14-4 margin which includes a five-game winning streak. The Huskies posted an 80-59 win over the Cougars last season in Chicago with Mata Boix posting a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds in leading CSU for the contest.

Dual-Sport Athletes – The Cougars have three dual-sport athletes on the roster this season in junior forward Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli), freshman forward Kayla Malec (Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond-Burton) and freshman guard Aanika Stevens (Boise, Idaho/Centennial). Cliff and Malec are members of the CSU volleyball team while Stevens competed this fall as a defender on the women's soccer team. Cliff has played in six games this season and Stevens made her collegiate début last week at Wisconsin, while Malec has yet to make an appearance this season.
 
Up Next – The Green and White come back from the Christmas break on Dec. 28 in downstate Peoria for the finale of their road swing at Bradley with the opening tip set for 7 p.m.
