Opening Tip – The Misty Opat era begins tomorrow night for the Chicago State women's basketball team in Cincinnati as it takes on host Xavier at the Cintas Center with a start time of 6 p.m., central time.

Scouting CSU – Opat has six returners from last season's team, including a pair of starters in sophomore guard Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) and junior forward Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain/), and added six newcomers in her first season. Bowers is the Cougars' top returning scorer at 12.8 points per game, while Mata Boix is one of the top returning post players in the Western Athletic Conference as she averaged 8.2 rebounds, 2.0 blocked shots and 1.6 steals per game. Some of the newcomers for CSU include freshmen Kourtney Crane (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods), Taylor Robinson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) and Shamim Wambere (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron).

Scouting XU – Xavier returns seven players from last season's squad that finished with a 10-20 season record which includes one starter in junior guard Na'Teshia Owens, who averaged 7.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game as well as producing 59 assists and 24 steals. The Muskateers are the only team in the BIG EAST Conference that does not have a senior or a graduate student on their roster as they have only three junior players.

Series History – Xavier has produced a 3-0 lifetime advantage over Chicago State heading into tomorrow's contest that will be the teams' first meeting in 18 years. The Muskateers captured an 88-34 win in the last game played in Cincinnati on Nov. 29, 2000.

Dual-Sport Athletes – The Cougars have a pair of dual-sport athletes on the roster this season in junior forward Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) and freshman forward Kayla Malec (Spring Grove, Ill./Richmond-Burton), who are also members of the CSU volleyball team.

First-Time Battles - CSU will take on two opponents for the first time this season in UAB and Saint Francis (Brooklyn).

Facing Multiple Conference Foes - The Cougars will face some of the Missouri Valley Conference's finest this season with contests against Evansville, Loyola, Valpaand Bradley. CSU also takes on multiple opponents from the Big Ten (Wisconsin and Northwestern) and Ohio Valley (Morehead State and SIU Edwardsville) conferences.

Up Next - CSU makes its home debut at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon for Homecoming as it will take on Evansville. The game will be shown live on the WAC Digital Network with a start time of 2 p.m.
