Chicago State Falls at Indiana in 2018-19 Season Opener

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Chicago State men's basketball opened its 2018-19 schedule here tonight battling tough at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall against host Indiana, but a big run by the Hoosiers in the first half made the difference in a 104-55 victory over the Cougars.
 
The Green and White captured their first lead of the game at the 17:55 mark of the first half on a layup from senior Anthony Harris (Gary, Ind./Griffith (Ind.)) for a 2-1 advantage before IU posted a 15-7 run in a three-minute span to gain a 16-8 lead following a three-pointer from Juwan Morgan at the 13:16 mark. CSU pulled within 16-13 with 12:27 remaining in the half on a jumper from junior Delshon Strickland (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnetonka ) and a three-pointer by sophomore Travon Bell (Chicago, Ill./Mather). A 37-19 scoring run over a 12-minute span propelled the Hoosiers to a 53-32 halftime lead.
 
Indiana began the second half with a 28-12 run in another 12-minute span to increase its lead to 81-44 at the eight-minute media timeout before cruising the rest of the way to victory.
 
Senior guard Anthony Harris (Gary, Ind./Griffith (Ind.)) led three CSU players that scored in double figures with 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field and drained five of his six free throw attempts.
 
Bell and Strickland each finished with 11 points on the night, while senior Ken Odiase (Glenwood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) tallied a pair of career highs with six rebounds and two steals, and fellow senior Rob Shaw (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) dished out a game-high six assists.
 
Four IU player produced double figure scoring with Romeo Langford leading the way by scoring a game-leading 19 points in his collegiate debut.
 
CSU returns to the state of Indiana on Thursday night when it takes on Notre Dame at the Joyce Center live on ESPN+ with a start time of 6 p.m., central time.
