Bowles Leads Four CSU Players in Double Figures at Notre Dame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Sophomore Cameron Bowles (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood) tallied 15 points to lead four players in double figures for the Chicago State men's basketball team as it fell to host Notre Dame by a score of 89-62 tonight at Purcell Pavilion at Joyce Center.
 
The Fighting Irish began the first half with a 28-10 run in the opening eight-plus minutes that concluded with a Rex Pflueger three-pointer at the 11:29 mark. CSU went on a 25-7 scoring drive of its own over a near 10-minute span with seven points from junior Christian Jacob (Gary, Ind./Westside) and six points from senior Delshon Strickland (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnetonka ) to tie the score at 35-35 with 1:53 remaining in the half after senior Rob Shaw (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) scored on a layup, but ND scored five unanswered points down the stretch to gain a 40-35 halftime lead.
 
Notre Dame opened the second half with a 12-0 run in the first three minutes to hike its leading margin to 52-35 at 17:03 and held on to the lead for the rest of the game.
 
Strickland and senior guard Anthony Harris (Gary, Ind./Griffith (Ind.)) each contributed 13 points for the Cougars, while junior Christian Jacob (Gary, Ind./Westside) recorded his first double-double in a CSU uniform with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
 
Elijah Burns tied with Bowles for top scoring honors in the game as he posted 15 points and shot 5-of-6 from the field for the Irish.
 
Chicago State concludes its opening week tomorrow evening at Central Michigan beginning at 6 p.m., central time.
