Opening Tip
– Chicago State women's basketball hosts local foe Valparaiso in the final game of the Morehead State Vinewood Farm Classic tomorrow night at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center live on the WAC Digital Network with a start time of 5 p.m.
 
Scouting CSU – The Cougars bring a 0-6 record into the Valpo game after falling on the road to another Missouri Valley Conference opponent in Loyola Chicago Monday night by a score of 76-40 with junior forward Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain/) recording her first double-double of the season with 15 rebounds and 10 points. Sophomore guard Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) leads CSU with averages of 16.2 points and 3.3 assists per game, while Mata Boix is first in the Western Athletic Conference in rebounds (13.0 rpg) and blocked shots (3.0 bpg) in addition to posting a team-best two steals a game.
 
Scouting VU – Valparaiso comes to the Windy City with a season record of 1-5 following Monday's 65-59 home defeat to Toledo. The Crusaders have two players scoring double figure averages in freshman guards Meredith Hamlet (15.0 ppg) and Addison Stoller (10.0 ppg). Stoller also leads VU with 6.8 rebounds and 2.7 steals per contest followed by senior guard Shay Frederick dishing out a team-best 3.5 assists per game.

Series History – Chicago State and Valparaiso will do battle on the hardwood for the 44th time with the Crusaders leading the series by a 37-6 margin. Valpo produced a 71-60 victory last season at its Athletic-Recreation Center on Dec. 10, 2017 with three players scoring in double figures. Destiny Harris (Crete, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) led CSU in the contest with 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Back in Stride – After ranking as one of the top freshmen scorers in the Western Athletic Conference last season, Bowers has not missed a beat early this season as she leads the league in scoring with 92 total points for an average of 23 per game.

Mata Boix Sets Career Rebounding High – Mata Boix grabbed 19 rebounds in last Tuesday's contest against UAB to set a new career high for rebounds in a game. She had previously tallied 16 rebounds twice in her CSU career prior to the UAB game.

Up Next – Following a week break for final exams, Chicago State returns to action on Dec. 8 with a home game against SIU Edwardsville at the JCC in a live WDN broadcast with a start time of 2 p.m.
