Men's Basketball Falls at Bradley to End Season Opening Road Swing

PEORIA, Ill. – Chicago State men's basketball finished off its season-opening road swing today after falling to host Bradley by a score of 86-70 at Carver Arena.
 
The Cougars started the game with an early 3-0 lead thanks to a three-pointer from senior Rob Shaw (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) in the opening 27 seconds and later took a 10-6 lead at the 14:57 mark on a layup from junior Christian Jacob (Gary, Ind./Westside). BU used a 28-5 scoring run over an eight-minute span to gain a 34-15 advantage with 6:31 remaining in the stanza.
 
CSU pulled within eight points at 40-32 at the 1:30 mark after using a 17-6 run in five minutes with senior Anthony Harris (Gary, Ind./Griffith (Ind.)) tallying nine points in the run, but the Braves finished the half by scoring three of the last four points to head into halftime with a 43-33 lead.
 
Bradley produced a 30-12 scoring drive in the first 12 minutes of the second half which increased its leading margin to 66-41 with 9:51 left and cruised to victory the rest of the way.
 
Jacob led all scorers with a game-high 21 points for Chicago State, who had three players that scored in double figures. Harris finished with 16 points and six rebounds while hitting all 10 of his free throw attempts, and Shaw posted 11 points and dished out a game-high seven assists.
 
Four Braves scored in double figures with Darrell Brown leading the team with 16 points.
 
The Green and White head to the friendly confines of the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center on Thursday, Nov. 29 for their home opener against East-West in a live broadcast on the WAC Digital Network with the opening tip set for 7:05 p.m.
