Shaw’s Career Highs Lead Chicago State in GCI Mainland Finale

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Senior Rob Shaw (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) recorded a pair of career highs for Chicago State today as the Cougars closed the Grand Cayman Islands Classic Mainland Tournament at East Tennessee State's Freedom Hall Civic Center with an 81-68 defeat to Jackson State in the consolation game.
 
Shaw tallied a new career scoring high with 19 points as he connected on 7-of-16 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range, and drained three of his four free throw attempts. He set another career high for assists with nine to go along with four rebounds and a steal in 37 minutes of play.
 
In addition to Shaw's performance, the Green and White also received double-digit scoring performances from seniors Delshon Strickland (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnetonka ) and Anthony Harris (Gary, Ind./Griffith (Ind.)). Strickland finished the contest with a season-best 17 points and Strickland added 16 points off the bench.
 
Junior Christian Jacob (Gary, Ind./Westside) and Harris each posted a team-leading seven rebounds, and sophomore Travon Bell (Chicago, Ill./Mather) finished with a career-best three assists.
 
Four players scored in double figures for Jackson State with Chris Howell recording a double-double of 17 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
 
The Cougars return to action on Saturday afternoon as they conclude their season-opening road swing in downstate Peoria versus host Bradley at Renaissance Coliseum in a live broadcast on ESPN3 beginning at 1 p.m.
