Cougars Drop 3-0 Decision to New Mexico State in WAC Home Battle

CHICAGO – The Chicago State volleyball team continued its three-match homestand this afternoon by dropping a 3-0 decision to visiting New Mexico State at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center in a Western Athletic Conference contest.
 
The visiting Aggies (14-5, 4-2) produced a blistering ,455 hitting percentage in the first set to cruise to a 25-15 win then captured a 25-18 victory in the second set to go into intermission with a 2-0 advantage. The Green and White battled tough throughout the third set against NM State before falling by a score of 25-22.
 
CSU (7-14, 1-4) was led by sophomore Lacee Adams (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) as she tallied her seventh double-double of the season with 18 assists and 10 digs.
 
Junior Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) finished with 13 digs, and senior Lauryn Dela Cruz (Provo, Utah/Timpview) recorded 10 kills and four total blocks (two solo, two assisted) on the day.
 
Tatyana Battle led NM State with a match-best 14 kills and 16 digs, and Brianna Ainsworth posted a match-high 19 assists.
 
The Cougars return to the JCC on Thursday, Oct. 11 with a WAC showdown against Kansas City in the finale of their homestand beginning at 7 p.m.
