Volleyball Falls at Drake, 3-0, to Close Road Swing

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Chicago State volleyball team closed out its three-match road swing Monday night with a 3-0 loss to host Drake at the Knapp Center in its non-conference finale.

The home team took a 2-0 lead to intermission after claiming the first two sets by scores of 25-7 and 25-9. Both teams then battled back and forth in the third set with Drake winning by a close 25-23 margin.

CSU was paced by junior Megan Klavitter (Fenton, Mich./Linden) as she tallied 14 digs which pulled her to within four digs of joining the Western Athletic Conference's Top 10 career leaderboard.

Sophomore Lacee Adams (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) dished out 12 assists followed by senior Ludmila Bomfim (Belo-Horizonte Minas Gerais, Brazil/Escola Estadual Pedro II) posting 11 assists, while junior Beatriz Palmieri (Ribeirao Preto, Sao Paulo, Brazil/Professora Carlina Cacapava de Mello) finished with 10 digs for the Green and White.

Cathryn Creek produced a match-high 15 kills and Kylee Macke recorded top match honors in digs with 19 to lead Drake (17-10).

The Cougars return to the Jacoby Dickens Center this Saturday afternoon to begin their last homestand of the season with a WAC rematch against CSU Bakersfield with the first serve set for 12 p.m.
