OPENING TIP: Chicago State women's basketball kicks off its first WAC weekend homestand of the season on Thursday night at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center against Seattle with a start time of 7 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU: Chicago State continues its conference slate as it plays its first home games of the year 2018 after dropping a 74-59 decision at New Mexico State in its conference opener last Saturday with freshman guard Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) recording a game-high 27 points and tying a season high with four assists. The Cougars are led by Bowers as she is averaging 13.9 points and 2.7 assists per game, while redshirt senior guard Phylicia Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Pickerington Central) ranks second on the team at 11.9 points a game and is shooting 79 percent (38-of-48) from the free throw line. Redshirt sophomore forward Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain) has produced team-highs of 8.3 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocked shots a game in addition to averaging 8.6 points per game.

SCOUTING SU: Seattle heads into the Windy City with a 6-10 record and looks to snap a five-game losing streak following last Saturday's 74-63 loss at Grand Canyon to close a short two-game road swing. Leading the Redhawks is redshirt senior wing Alexis Montgomery as she leads the WAC in scoring (21.3 ppg), rebounds (10.2 rpg) and double-doubles (nine) while shooting 84 percent (41-of-49) from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Kamira Sanders is dishing out a team-leading average of 3.5 assists per game to go along with scoring 12.9 points a game. Senior forward Jacinta Beckley is the third SU player scoring double figures with an average of 12.6 points per game in addition to posting a team-best eight blocked shots.

SERIES HISTORY: Seattle has recorded a 10-3 mark in the all-time series with Chicago State that includes winning 10 of the last 11 meetings since the 2011-12 season. Last season, the Redhawks won all three contests with the Cougars, including a 78-60 victory in the first round of the WAC Tournament on March 8, 2017. Four CSU players scored in double figures with Jessica Cerda recording 15 points and Wilma Afungo posted a game-high 22 points for SU.

WAC TOURNEY TICKETS ON SALE: Tickets for the 2018 WAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas are now on sale. The tournament starts on Wednesday, March 7 with the women's first round of play, followed by a full day of men's action on Thursday, March 8.
