OPENING TIP: The final full month of the regular season is now here for the Chicago State women's basketball team as it returns to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center for a pair of home games this week which begins tomorrow night against Western Athletic Conference foe CSU Bakersfield that begins at 7 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU: CSU heads back to the JCC looking to rebound from last Saturday's 81-44 defeat at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley which concluded a three-game road swing with sophomore forward Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) scoring a career-high 15 points to lead the team. The Cougars are led by freshman guard Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) as she is averaging 12 points and 2.6 assists per game. Redshirt senior guard Phylicia Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Pickerington Central) ranks second in both scoring (11.3 ppg) and assists (2.3 apg) while redshirt sophomore forward Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain) leads the Green and White with averages of 1.8 blocked shots and 1.5 steals per game to go along with 9.2 points per game.

SCOUTING CSUB: CSU Bakersfield comes into the Windy City with a season record of 10-10 and holds a 4-2 mark in conference play while posting a two-game winning streak. The Roadrunners posted a 75-68 win over Seattle last Saturday to close out a three-game homestand with senior forward Aja Williams leading four CSUB players in double figures with 23 points. Williams is averaging a team-best 12.9 points per game, while junior guard Alexxus Gilbert is dishing out a team-leading 2.1 assists per game in addition to scoring an average of nine points a game. Redshirt senior center Jazmyne Bartee leads the Roadrunners with 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocked shots per game.

SERIES HISTORY: CSU Bakersfield now leads Chicago State by a 13-1 advantage in the all-time series and has won the last 13 meetings since March of 2011. The Roadrunners captured the first contest of the season between the two schools on Jan. 20 with a 63-49 win in Bakersfield as Mata Boix and Williams led their respective teams with 15 points apiece.

WAC TOURNEY TICKETS ON SALE: Tickets for the 2018 WAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas are now on sale. The tournament starts on Wednesday, March 7 with the women's first round of play, followed by a full day of men's action on Thursday, March 8. The championship games will be contested on Saturday, March 10. Currently available for purchase are $135 and $85 all-session passes, which consist of entry into 14 games over six sessions. NETTING A NEW CAREER HIGH… PART DEUX: Sophomore forward Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) has set a new career scoring high for the second time this season as she tallied 15 points and shot 6-of-10 from the field last Saturday at UT Rio Grande Valley. Her previous career high was 12 points which was set against Seattle on Jan. 11.

UP NEXT: The Cougars close out their short homestand on Saturday afternoon with a WAC battle against Grand Canyon live on the WAC Digital Network with the opening tip set for 2 p.m.
