SCOUTING CSU: Chicago State looks to close its road swing on a good note after suffering losses last week at Grand Canyon (36-64) and CSU Bakersfield (49-63). Freshman guard Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) is averaging 12.6 points and 2.6 assists per game to lead the Green and White followed by redshirt senior guard Phylicia Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Pickerington Central) ranking second in scoring with an average of 11.4 points a game. SCOUTING UTRGV: UT Rio Grande Valley heads into Saturday's contest with a season record of 10-10 and is 0-5 against WAC opponents following a pair of road defeats last week with a 69-60 loss at Utah Valley and a 64-56 defeat at Seattle. Junior guard Quynne Huggins leads the Vaqueros with a scoring average of 10.1 points per game, while graduate student forward Laura Van Tillburg leads the team with 1.3 blocked shots a game, a .547 field goal percentage and a .784 free throw percentage to go along with scoring an average of nine points per contest. Redshirt freshman guard Amara Graham is the team's assist leader as she is dishing out 2.1 assists a game.

SERIES HISTORY: UTRGV holds a 17-8 lead all-time against CSU and has won the last 14 meetings between the two teams since 2011-12 after sweeping both contests last season which included a 57-46 victory in Chicago on Jan. 21, 2017.

COUGARS SIGN TWO FOR 2018-19: The Green and White bolstered their roster for 2018-19 by signing a pair of student-athletes in 6-foot-1 center Christina Alexander and 5-foot-8 guard Taylor Robinson. Alexander helped Martinville (Ind.) High School claim a regional title in her junior season, while Robinson averaged 10 points and four rebounds a game last season at Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School.
