Allen Leads CSU with Game-High 20 Points in Season Finale

Cailin Nix, Jessica Cerda and Konner Harris were honored in a pre-game senior day ceremony before the Cougars' home finale today against UMKC

CHICAGO – Sophomore Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) scored a game-high 20 points to lead three players in double figures as the Chicago State women's basketball team closed out its regular season schedule here this afternoon with a 71-55 loss to visiting UMKC at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.

Konner Harris (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney), Cailin Nix (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) and Jessica Cerda (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) were recognized and honored by the team in a senior day ceremony prior to the game.

For the game, the Cougars held advantages over the Kangaroos in steals (9-8) and fast break points (6-4) while both teams each scored eight second-chance points.

Allen shot 8-of-14 from the field and connected on 2-of-3 from three-point range in addition to recording a game-high three steals for the Green and White.

Cerda added 12 points, junior Destiny Harris (Crete, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) dished out five assists, and Nix went 5-of-10 from the field to score 10 points with two steals in her final collegiate home game.

UMKC also had three players score in double figures with Kelsey Barrett scoring a team-leading 16 points.

CSU now heads to Las Vegas next week for the WAC Tournament as the seventh seed and will battle second-seeded Seattle U in the quarterfinals at Orleans Arena on Wednesday, March 8 with a start time of 6:30 p.m.
