Three Players Score in Double Figures as Cougars Kick Off Road Swing

SEATTLE – Three players scored in double figures to lead visiting Chicago State as it kicked off a three-game road swing here tonight as it dropped an 82-53 decision to host Seattle U at the Connolly Center.
 
The Redhawks opened the contest with a 21-6 advantage after the first quarter and later hiked their leading margin to 41-24 going into halftime. Seattle then outscored the Cougars in the third and fourth quarters by a 41-29 margin for the win.
 
Redshirt junior Jessica Cerda (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) shot 7-of-10 from the field and went 4-of-6 from three-point range to score a game-high 19 points to lead Chicago State. Junior Destiny Harris (Crete, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) added 11 points and connected on three of her five field-goal attempts, and senior Cailin Nix (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) finished with 10 points and three steals.
 
Seattle, who had four players score in double figures, were led by Wilma Afunugo's 19 points.
 
The Cougars continue their road swing on Saturday night in Orem, Utah as they take on host Utah Valley at Lockhart Arena with a start time of 8 p.m.
