Women’s Basketball Battles Grand Canyon to Open Final Homestand

CHICAGO – Chicago State women's basketball kicked off its final homestand of the season tonight at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center with a tough Western Athletic Conference battle against visiting Grand Canyon. The Antelopes pulled away in the fourth quarter to escape the JCC with a 73-62 victory.
 
Sophomore Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) led the Green and White with a season-high 23 points and shot 9-of-15 from the field. She also contributed a game-high nine rebounds, three assists and a steal in 40 minutes of play.
 
Junior Destiny Harris (Crete, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) added 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go along with six rebounds, while senior Cailin Nix (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) tallied 13 points, three assists and three steals in addition to connecting on 5-of-9 from the field.
 
Marina Laramie scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Antelopes with Brie Mobley adding 22 points and a game-leading five steals.
 
CSU returns to action this Saturday afternoon as it welcomes CSU Bakersfield to the JCC beginning at 12 p.m.
