Sims, Jr., Burns Lead CSU Men’s Basketball at Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Chicago State men's basketball team received strong efforts today from junior Fred Sims, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale) and senior Glen Burns (West Memphis, Ark./West Memphis Christian) as the Cougars fell to host Oakland by a score of 82-50 on the Blacktop at the O'Rena.
 
The home team used an 18-3 run in a six-minute span that broke an early 2-2 tie to gain a 22-5 lead with 10:49 remaining in the first half and later took a 37-23 lead going into halftime. OU went on to outscore the Green and White by a 45-27 margin in the second half while bringing its lead to 30 points.
 
Sims paced the Cougars with 16 points and shot 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Burns recorded his first double-double in a CSU uniform by scoring 10 points and grabbing a career-best 10 rebounds.
 
Jalen Hayes led Oakland with a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds.
