OPENING TIP: Chicago State women's basketball finishes off its five-game road swing Monday night with a trip to Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kan., where its battles host Kansas State in a live online broadcast on ESPN 3 with a start time of 7 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU: CSU heads into Monday's showdown at Kansas State looking to post its first win of the season after dropping a pair of contests to Wichita State (63-66) and Oral Roberts (43-73) at the Shocker Winter Classic last weekend in Wichita, Kan. Two players are averaging double figures for the Green and White in freshman guard Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) [12.5 ppg] and redshirt senior guard Phylicia Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Pickerington Central) [11.3 ppg] with both players also being tied for the team's assist lead at 2.5 helpers per contest. Redshirt sophomore forward Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain) is producing team highs of 8.3 rebounds, 2.2 blocked shots and two steals per game while also averaging 9.8 points a game.

SCOUTING KSU: Kansas State, winning three of its last four games, comes into Monday with a 7-2 record on the year after ending a 10-day break for final exams last Saturday with a 66-51 victory over Little Rock behind a 25-point scoring effort from sophomore forward Peyton Williams. K-State currently has four players averaging double figure scoring with junior guard Kayla Goth leading the way at 15.2 points and 6.3 assists per game in addition to shooting a team-best 55 percent from the field. Williams is producing team-leading numbers of 6.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots a game to go along with scoring 11 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the third all-time meeting on the court between Chicago State and Kansas State with the Wildcats holding a 2-0 advantage. K-State claimed an 83-33 win over the Cougars at Bramlage on Nov. 11, 2016 in the 2016-17 season opener for both teams as four players scored in double figures. CSU was led by Sh'Toya Sanders as she produced a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

THE FRESHMAN 20: Bowers recorded her second 20-point contest of the season last Friday at Wichita State while shooting 11-of-22 from the field to set a new season scoring high. She tallied 23 points on Nov. 18 versus Jackson State in CSU's homecoming game.

WAC LEADER: Mata Boix leads the Western Athletic Conference in blocked shots and offensive rebounds (3.7) per game while ranking second in rebounds, field-goal percentage and steals per game.
