OPENING TIP: The Chicago State women's basketball team heads to the state of Kansas in the midst of its current five-game road swing with the Shocker Winter Classic this weekend at Charles Koch Arena on the campus of Wichita State University. CSU battles the host Shockers Friday night live on ESPN 3 with the opening tip set for 7 p.m.

SCOUTING CSU: The Green and White look to continue their upward momentum in Kansas following last Sunday's tough battle at Valparaiso before falling by a score of 71-60 with three players scoring in double figures, led by senior guard Destiny Harris (Crete, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) leading the team with season highs of 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Freshman guard Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) leads CSU as she is averaging 11.7 points and 2.5 assists per game. Redshirt sophomore forward Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain) is posting team highs of 8.4 rebounds, 2.4 blocked shots and 2.2 steals a game while shooting 50 percent from the field and ranks second on the team in scoring at 11 points per game. Redshirt senior guard Phylicia Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Pickerington Central) is the third Cougars scoring in double figures as she is currently averaging 10.5 points a game.

SCOUTING WSU: Wichita State heads into Friday's game sporting a 3-8 season record after snapping a two-game losing streak last Saturday with a 72-63 home victory over UMKC. Senior forward Rangie Blessard, who was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll last week, is averaging 18 points and 7.4 rebounds per game to lead the Shockers, while senior guard Diamond Lockhart has posted team highs of 3.2 assists a game to go along with scoring 9.9 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY: Friday's contest marks only the second all-time meeting between CSU and Wichita State on the hardwood. The Shockers defeated the Cougars at Koch Arena on Dec. 19, 1992 by a score 75-65.

UP NEXT: Following the WSU game and Saturday's contest against former Mid-Continent Conference rival Oral Roberts, the Cougars close out their road swing on Monday night at Kansas State live on ESPN 3 with the opening tip set for 7 p.m.
