Box Score CHICAGO – The Chicago State women's basketball team concluded its four-game homestand today after falling to visiting Morehead State by a score of 79-40 at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.
The Green and White posted an early 6-2 lead at the 8:32 mark of the first quarter on a corner three-pointer from freshman Tyeshia Bowers, but the visitors would go on to score 11 of the next 21 points for the remainder of the stanza to gain a 17-12 advantage.
CSU then used a 6-4 scoring drive in the first 2:30 of the second quarter to pull within three at 21-18 on a three-pointer from redshirt senior Konner Harris before the Eagles ended the first half with a 14-4 run in the last seven-plus minutes to go halftime with a 35-22 lead. Morehead State then recorded a 44-18 tally over the final two quarters to seal the victory.
The Cougars received 13 points and four assists from Bowers, while redshirt sophomore Ines Mata Boix grabbed 10 rebounds and tied a career high with six blocked shots. Freshman Tamara Olverson contributed eight points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field.
Morehead State has four players that scored in double figures with Tierra McGowan producing game highs of 15 rebounds and 14 points.
Chicago State closes out the month of November on Wednesday evening at Western Illinois in a live ESPN 3 broadcast with a start time of 7 p.m.
