OPENING TIP: Chicago State women basketball returns to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center for Homecoming as it hosts Jackson State on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. in a live broadcast on the WAC Digital Network with Julio Rausseo providing play-by-play action.

SCOUTING CSU: CSU heads into its Homecoming contest with a 0-2 record on the young season after falling in a close battle at Illinois on Wednesday night by a score of 66-56 thanks to having three players score in double figures. Leading the Cougars is redshirt sophomore forward Ines Mata Boix as she is averaging 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game while shooting 60 percent from the field. Redshirt senior guard Phylicia Johnson leads the Green and White with 4.5 assists per game in addition to scoring 11 points per contest.

SCOUTING JSU: Jackson State closes out a two-game Chicago road swing with Saturday's contest and holds a 2-1 record after capturing a 76-63 win at UIC on Thursday night with senior guard Derica Wiggins scoring 15 points to lead three players in double figures. Wiggins is averaging 13.3 points and 2.7 steals per game to lead the Tigers, who have four players producing double digit scoring averages. Sophomore guard Sumer Williams is posting team highs of 6.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots a game to go along with averaging 10.3 points per game for JSU.

SERIES HISTORY – Saturday's game serves as the fourth meeting all-time between Chicago State and Jackson State on the hardwood with the Tigers leading the series by a 2-1 margin. The Cougars won the last meeting between the two schools in Jackson, Miss., on Dec. 15, 2015 by a score of 76-59 with four players scoring in double figures. Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) led the Green and White with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds.

NETTING A DOUBLE BONUS – Mata Boix recorded her first collegiate double-double in Wednesday's game at Illinois as she produced 13 points and a career-high 10 rebounds while shooting 5-of-8 from the field.

UP NEXT: The Cougars continue their four-game homestand on the WAC Digital Network Monday night with a non-conference showdown against Northern Illinois with the opening tip set for 7 p.m.
