Gonzalez Battles Tough in CSU Men’s Season Opener at Louisville

LOUISVILLE – Chicago State men's tennis opened its 2017 spring season here tonight at Louisville's Bass-Rudd Tennis Center as the host Cardinals captured a 7-0 victory.

UL captured all three doubles matches to post an early 1-0 lead before earning a sweep in the singles portion to earn the win.

Junior Christian Gonzalez (Mungia, Spain/Larramendi Ikastola) battled tough for the Green and White in his No. 4 singles contest against the Cardinals' George Hedley. He came back from a 6-2 first-set defeat to go into a tiebreaker in the second set before Hedley squeaked by via a 7-6 score.

Chicago State travels to West Lafayette, Ind. tomorrow for a pair of matches at Purdue beginning at 3:30 p.m.
