Allen Posts Double-Double for CSU in WAC Contest against Seattle U

CHICAGO – Sophomore Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) posted her fourth double-double of the season for Chicago State women's basketball as it dropped a 63-51 decision to Seattle U in a Western Athletic Conference contest here this afternoon at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center.
 
Allen scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed a career-best 12 rebounds for the Green and White while adding three steals and two assists.
 
SU shot 56 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range en route to gaining a 23-8 advantage after the first quarter and would go into halftime ahead by a 36-23 margin despite CSU posting a slim 15-13 lead in the second quarter. SU kept up its double digit lead throughout the second half to earn the win despite both teams scoring 28 points apiece.
 
Chicago State posted advantages over the Redhawks in second chance points (12-4) and steals (11-8) for the contest.
 
In addition to Allen, senior Cailin Nix (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) added 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and notched a game-leading five steals for the Cougars (0-18, 0-4). Junior Destiny Harris (Crete, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) set a new season-high for rebounds with 12 rebounds and also contributed six points.
 
Alexis Montgomery recorded a double-double of her own with 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in addition to dishing out a game-high six assists to lead Seattle U (6-12, 3-0), who had four players score in double figures on the day.
 
The Green and White conclude their homestand on Jan. 21 against the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in a live broadcast on WVON 1690 AM with the opening tip set for 2 p.m.
