Men’s Tennis Completes Weekend Slate in Michigan

CHICAGO – Chicago State men's tennis played a pair of matches in the state of Michigan and came away with 7-0 defeats to Michigan State last Sunday and Western Michigan on Monday.
 
Sophomore Gonzalo Martinez (Madrid, Spain/Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo) and freshman Felix Savard (Laval, QC Canada/Saint-Gabriel) went the distance in singles contests against the Spartans.
 
Savard fell to Jasper Koenen at No. 2 by scores of 3-6, 6-4 and 1-0, while Martinez dropped a 7-6, 2-6, 1-0 decision to Colin Harvey at No. 5. The duo also teamed up in a 6-4 defeat to Kornen and Ivan Rakic at No. 2 doubles.
 
Martinez battled tough at No. 5 singles in the WMU match despite falling to Nick Schnobel by scores of 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) and 11-13.
 
CSU returns to action on Saturday with a road match at Valparaiso with a start time of 6 p.m.
