Allen Records Game-High 16 Points for CSU at Norrthwestern

Kaylee Allen tallied a game-high 16 points to lead CSU today at Northwestern
Box Score EVANSTON, Ill. – Sophomore Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) recorded a game-high 16 points as the Chicago State women's basketball team continued its four-game road swing here today at Welsh-Ryan Arena after falling to Northwestern by a score of 75-42.
 
The Wildcats garnered an early 6-1 lead at the 7:52 mark of the first quarter on a layup from Nia Coffey before CSU scored 11 of the next 21 points in over six minutes to pull within 17-11 after redshirt junior Jessica Cerda (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) converted a layup with 13 seconds remaining.
 
CSU (0-8) began the second quarter by tallying six unanswered points in a minute and a half to knot the score at 19-19 that ended with a jumper from junior Destiny Harris (Crete, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) at the 8:25 mark, but the home team would go on a 17-4 scoring drive for the remainder of the stanza to go into halftime ahead by a 36-21 margin.
 
After the visitors opened the third quarter with a 7-2 run in a span of 1:30 to pull within 10 at 38-28 following a three-pointer from senior Cailin Nix (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) at the 7:30 mark, NU posted a 20-4 scoring drive for the remainder of the stanza to take a 58-32 advantage. The Cougars would get no closer than 24 points during the fourth quarter.
 
Allen connected on 9-of-10 from the free throw line and grabbed eight rebounds for the Green and White, while Harris posted a season-best 10 points and tallied six boards. Freshman Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) tied for game-high honors with three steals.
 
Coffey recorded a double-double of 14 points and a game-leading 12 rebounds to lead Northwestern (7-1), who had three players score in double figures.
 
After taking a week off to complete final exams, the Cougars return to action on Dec. 10 with another city battle at Loyola in an ESPN3 live broadcast beginning at 12 p.m.
