CSU Women’s Basketball Closes Road Swing Tonight at Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE – The Chicago State women's basketball team closed out its four-game road swing here tonight with a 71-49 non-conference loss to host Milwaukee at the Klotsche Center.

After a tight first quarter to which CSU only trailed 18-17, UWM would outscore the Green and White in the final 30 minutes to gain the win.

Sophomore Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Cougars (0-10), who had four players score in double figures. She also grabbed six rebounds and connected on three of her four free throw attempts.

Redshirt junior Jessica Cerda (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) contributed 14 points and a career-high four steals, while senior Cailin Nix (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) and sophomore Tiana Thomas (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) each added 10 points. Thomas also recorded a career-best four steals and freshman Alexandria Cliff (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) grabbed a season high-tying eight rebounds.

Steph Kostowicz led four players to score in double figures for Milwaukee (8-2) with a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

CSU returns to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center this Saturday afternoon to kick off a short two-game homestand against Western Illinois with the opening tip set for 2 p.m.
