Women’s Basketball Falls at Morehead State, 63-55

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Chicago State women's basketball closed out its short two-game road swing here earlier today as it fell to host Morehead State at Johnson Arena by a score of 63-55.
 
Down 21-18 after the first quarter, the Green and White were outscored in the second stanza by an 18-7 margin that saw them go into halftime trailing by a score of 39-25. CSU bounced back in the second half by outscoring Morehead State, 30-24, but its comeback fell short down the stretch.
 
Chicago State (0-5) was paced by sophomore Sh'Toya Sanders (Fort Wayne, Ind./Wayne) as she produced her third consecutive double-double with game highs of 16 points and 13 rebounds in addition to equaling a career high with six blocked shots. Sanders also recorded three steals and dished out an assist while connecting on 8-of-12 of her free throw attempts.
 
Also coming up big for CSU was fellow sophomore Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods), who finished the game with 15 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists to go along with draining six of her seven chances from the charity stripe. Senior Cailin Nix (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) shot 4-of-5 from the field to score a season-high eight points.
 
Eriel McKee matched Sanders in game-high honors with 16 points and 13 boards to lead the Eagles (4-2).
 
The Cougars return to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center on Tuesday, Nov. 29 against Oakland with a start time of 7 p.m.
