Sanders Records Double-Double in Cougars’ Season Opener

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Sophomore forward/center Sh'Toya Sanders (Fort Wayne, Ind./Wayne) recorded a double-double to lead the Chicago State women's basketball team in Friday evening's contest at Big 12 Conference foe Kansas State in the season opener for both teams. The host Wildcats never trailed in the game as they cruised to an 83-33 victory at Bramlage Coliseum.

Sanders tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds to go along with a game-leading four blocked shots for the Cougars, while fellow classmate Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) contributed eight points and seven rebounds.
 
Redshirt junior Jessica Cerda (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) finished with six points and a career-best six rebounds, and junior Destiny Harris (Crete, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) produced three steals in her first game in a CSU uniform.
 
K-State had four players that scored in double figures, led by Kayla Goth's game-high 23 points.

CSU welcomes rival Valparaiso to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center on Wednesday, Nov. 17 to begin a two-game homestand.
